Institutional Effectiveness (IE)

About IE

Institutional Effectiveness, part of the Office of Analytics & Institutional Effectiveness, provides leadership and coordination for continuous improvement efforts conducted at Virginia Tech. Initiatives include academic and certificate program assessment, administrative assessment, general education assessment, academic program review, and survey research projects including the Student Perceptions of Teaching (SPOT) course evaluations.

Mission

The mission of Institutional Effectiveness is to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement and advance excellence at Virginia Tech. We accomplish this through the design and promotion of assessment and planning processes. Through these efforts and utilizing analytics to visualize institutional effectiveness data, we support evidence-based decision-making to enhance learning and the student experience.

Vision

The vision for Institutional Effectiveness is to lead the field by designing and implementing innovative ways to collect, report, and present actionable assessment data.

What is Institutional Effectiveness?

Institutional Effectiveness is the systematic process of gathering, analyzing, and using data for the purpose of documenting institutional performance in relation to its mission and goals and informing improvement efforts.
